Managed Kubernetes
A managed Kubernetes control plane for $1 per node
Bring your own servers. OneBuck.dev runs the Kubernetes control plane while your workloads run on worker nodes you own. Priced per node, from $1 per month.
$1 / node / month
One slot covers one worker node in one hosted control plane.
What it does
- Dedicated control plane — one hosted Kubernetes control plane per customer, built on k0s with k0smotron.
- Join command — provisions a command that installs the k0s worker and enrolls the node in your cluster.
- Standard tooling — gives you a kubeconfig so you can use normal kubectl, Helm, Deployments and CRDs.
- Your workloads, your nodes — customer workloads stay on customer worker nodes, not in the control plane.
- Per-tenant isolation — namespaces, RBAC, network policies, resource limits, secrets and separate datastore credentials.
- No silent replacement — refuses to silently replace an existing k3s, kubeadm, microk8s or k0s install; it asks first.
Current limits
| Control plane | One dedicated k0s/Kubernetes control plane per customer |
|---|---|
| Worker nodes | Your Linux servers (amd64 or arm64) |
| Pricing unit | 1 worker node |
| Client tooling | Standard kubectl and Helm |
| Isolation | Namespaces, RBAC, network policies, resource limits, secrets |
| Supported OS | Linux |
Setup
- Create a cluster in the dashboard.
- Copy the join command and run it with sudo on each worker node.
- Download the kubeconfig and connect with kubectl.
# On each worker node:
curl -fsSL https://api.onebuck.dev/join/<token> | sudo sh
# Then, locally:
kubectl --kubeconfig onebuck.yaml get nodes
The join script checks for an existing Kubernetes install and asks before replacing it, and it is safe to re-run.
Common use cases
- Run a small cluster without operating etcd or an API server yourself.
- Spin up ephemeral clusters for CI.
- Give edge or home-lab workers a managed control plane.
- Use standard Kubernetes APIs with your existing tooling.
FAQ
Do you host my workloads?
No. Workloads run on your worker nodes. OneBuck runs the control plane.
Is this a custom platform?
No. It is standard Kubernetes, so kubectl, Helm and CRDs work normally.
Which architectures are supported?
Linux on amd64 and arm64.
What if a node already runs Kubernetes?
The join script detects k3s, kubeadm, microk8s or k0s and asks before changing anything.
How is this priced?
$1 per worker node per month.
